Organic foods in Germany
Article Abstract:
Some 2.4% of Germany's agricultural land is organically farmed, with the German organic food market estimated to be between 3-6 billion German marks in 1999. Most organic food distribution occurs through healthfood shops, with grocers and druggists accounting for 20-25% and direct sales 20%. It is expected that organic food products will become increasingly popular, with larger volumes being sold in conventional shops, resulting in lower prices.
