Out of bounds: eccentric writer heads for the hills to exercise poetic license
Article Abstract:
Kit Leee is among Malaysia's more remarkable personalities as well of one of its best writers. After a stint in the 1970s as an advertising copywriter that garnered at least one major award, he moved into the boondocks, now living near the small town of Kuala Kubu Baru in a thatched hut. His books include 'Adoi,' which satirizes Malaysian speech, and he has released poetry collections and music, and held photography exhibits. He is also called Lee Kit Fong, Atares, and M Eeel.

Crazy about profits
Article Abstract:
Official encouragement and opportunities abroad are creating a boom in Malaysian overseas investments. Whereas M$700 million had been invested outside their country by Malaysians in 1989, in 1994 M$4.5 billion went into Cambodia, Vietnam, and other places. Fast-rising wages, government concern about pollution, and other factors at home are also pushing this trend, with low-wage, low-skill work moving out of Malaysia as it once moved in.
