PAL is on track to post a profit in second quarter

Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced that it posted a 109.2 million pesos (2.5 million euros) net profit for the July-August 1999 period. The figures show that the carrier is on pace to report a profit for the second consecutive quarter. PAL acknowledged that its net profits were higher than its internal budget predictions. For the 1999 first-quarter, PAL posted 65.4 million pesos in net income.

Ryanair's profit soared 12% in quarter

Ryanair posted an improvement of 12% in pretax profits for the three-month period ending on June 30, 1999. The carrier was helped by increased passenger volumes and by above-average load factors.
