PEPS TIES UP WITH RESTONIC FOR MATTRESS UNIT

Peps Industries (Pvt) Ltd (PIPL) of Coimbatore has tied-up with Restonic Corporation of US for setting up a Rs10 crore mattress manufacturing unit near Coimbatore. The unit has a capacity to manufacture 300 spring mattresses per day under the Restonic brand. The mattress is based on the marvellous middle technology and has special features like posture cylinders, stabilisers and supportive lumbar bars. The mattress will be launched in southern India in December 1998. Peps is licensed to sell the Restonic brand of mattresses in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It plans to export 40 percent of its output. It intends to invest Rs1 crore in advertising the brand. The mattress will be targeted at hotels and hospitals. PIPL has targeted a turnover of Rs25 crore during the first year of operations including export earnings of Rs10 crore. (nr)

ORCHID CHEM PLANS EXPANSION

Orchid Chemicals, largest producer of oral and sterile cephalosporins in India, intends to expand. The expansion plan envisages a wider product portfolio and targeting the global formulation market. The plan will be realised in 3 stages - a backward integration into the manufacture of key intermediates, production of additional cephalosporins and the forward integration into the manufacture of sterile cephalosporin formulations.
