Indian Shaving Products Limited (ISPL), a Gillette subsidiary, has posted 62 percent higher net profit at Rs15.70 crore for the nine months ended December 1998 (Rs12.91 crore for the nine months ended December 1997). The turnover increased by 24 percent to Rs152.20 crore. The company's financial year has been changed to January-December. ISPL launched new products in women's segment and men's toiletries during 1998. The company witnessed a 43 percent growth in its Gillette Sensor range. The board has recommended a 22 percent dividend for the nine months. (um)(psr)

United Phosphorus has increased its net profit by 53 percent to Rs23 crore in the first half of 1997-98 against Rs15 crore in the first half of 1997-98. the company's sales have increased by 11 percent to Rs286 crore against Rs257 crore while interest cost has risen to Rs15.8 crore from Rs14.9 crore. Its depreciation costs have increased to Rs7.7 crore from Rs7.5 crore. The company has posted a net profit of Rs18.3 crore on sales of Rs182 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 1998. (khr)
