PHILIPS ON A SELLING SPREE, ALLEGES UNION
Article Abstract:
Philips India Ltd's union has alleged that the company is thinking of selling its PMF unit at Loni, component unit at Pune and shut down its fluorescent powder unit at Kalwe. Sources say that the company has called for an extraordinary general meeting on December 4, 1998 to seek approval from shareholders for the sale of its colour television unit at Calcutta to Videocon and its component unit to Compass Partners. The company's union claims that its shift from production to distribution is against the interests of stakeholders and employees. (khr)
