PRIVATE LPG BOTTLERS: TOWARDS EXTINCTION
Article Abstract:
Private enterprises in bottling and marketing liquefied petroleum gas have not been able to establish base or achieve critical mass and are on the verge of closure. They have also been adversely affected by the public sector units like BPCL, HPCL and IOC who sell LPG at subsidised rates. Consumers have also lost faith in private bottlers due to poor service and distribution. Most of the private bottlers were depending on the capital market to raise funds for investment which they have been unable to do in the last three years. (khr)
