PMB Quebec synergizes with main study
Article Abstract:
PMB Quebec has made a major effort to integrate its product data in the new report with its main annual study. PMB Quebec measured 12 dailies in seven Quebec markets and Ottawa. Both studies have the same category breakdown: heavy, medium, light. The Quebec study now includes a measurement of newspaper sections being read. The first section features generic reports, such as international news, and the second section presents descriptions of each sections. Another change is a new procedure of transmitting data. Users can now retrieve data from the main or the Quebec study using a key word search.

Two new tabs join T.O. paper chase
Article Abstract:
Two new tabloids were started during the last week of Jun 2000 in Toronto, Ontario. The first is the free transit tabloid FYI Toronto from SunMedia Corp, which will run 50,000 to 100,000 copies daily between 24 to 36 pages. FYI Toronto, which counts Ford and Molson as its early advertisers, is dependent entirely on advertising revenues for sustaining its operating costs. The last tab standing
Article Abstract:
Sun Media's FYI Toronto, Torstar's GTA Today and the Modern Times Group's Metro are the three latest free tabloids launched in Toronto, Ontario. They were launched within days of each other, an event that observers say would fuel another costly newspaper war in the city, resulting in a pyrrhic victory for the winner. However, the owners of the tabloids belie this claim, saying the newspapers show great promise with growing advertiser interest and reader awareness.
