Article Abstract:
Investcorp International Ltd (Bahrain) and Cinven Corp Ltd (United Kingdom) made the top bid in the international auction initiated by AstraZeneca PLC for its specialty chemicals division. The two companies jointly bid #1.3 billion, or US$2.1 billion, for the AstraZeneca unit, outbidding at least 3 US firms, including Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. Cinven and Investcorp will use about #500 million in equity and an estimated #400 million in junk bonds to pay for the acquisition.

Future of BOC Group remains up in the air
Article Abstract:
Air Products & Chemicals Inc. and Air Liquide SA were unable to reach an agreement to purchase BOC Group. BOC is a industrial gases group based in Great Britain. Negotiations are expected to continue over the proposed acquisition. Air Products and Air Liquide have made a joint offer of more than 7 billion pound sterling (10.68 billion euros) to purchase BOC.
