Pakistan privatization tries to progress
Article Abstract:
Pakistan's privatization program had dismal results in 1998, but plans call for the Privatization Commission to dispose of some banks and public utilities in 1999. The list of companies to be privatized in the year's second and third quarters includes Pakistan Telecommunications Ltd, United Bank, Habib Bank, Allied Bank, Pakistan Steel Mills, and Karachi Electric Supply Co. The Pakistan Telecom privatization appears to be progressing. Goldman Sachs finished its due diligence on the company in Feb 1999.
