People: vision for Scotland
Article Abstract:
A personal interest in architecture and a desire to develop better accessibility for the public started Scottish member of parliament Rhona Brankin on her career. Brankin is the deputy minister for sport and culture and believes political measures will enable her to develop a greater degree of co-operation between architects and planning bodies throughout Scotland. One of her main aims is to make the profession more accountable and less guarded against public involvement.

Architects body Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland's (RIAS's) newly-appointed president Iain Dickson is confident that Scotland's new government will put forward a sound architecture policy. Dickson, who completed his architectural training in Aberdeen, Scotland, believes RIAS is helping Scotland to raise standards in architecture. Dickson says architectural history expert James Macaulay encouraged him to study 'L' plan architecture.
