Peter Moro: an appreciation
Article Abstract:
Peter Moro was an outstanding figure in UK architecture. He was motivated by strong visual and tactile senses, and was committed to the centrality of form in architecture. He began his career in 1941 as a teacher at the Polytechnic School of Architecture, but moved on to a partnership which achieved particular success in the design of theatres. Moro is well-known for his Nottingham Playhouse design which, whilst radical at the time of construction, is the best post-war theatre in the UK. His design for Plymouth Theatre, opened in 1982, is also impressive.
