Article Abstract:
In 1997, Belgium and Luxembourg made BFr 21.4bn in exports to South Africa, up 11% while South Africa exported the equivalent of BFr 29.2bn to the two European countries, up 20.5%. To stimulate the trade between the three countries, Belgium, Luxembourg and South Africa signed an agreement on 14 August 1998. The agreement aims at securing and promoting their investments in Belgium, Luxembourg and South Africa.

Brasserie Lef bvre, the Belgian beer producer (turnover BFr 80mn, 12 employees) is currently testing a pale beer flavoured with apple with an alcohol volume of 4.7%. It will be officially launched in the Spring-Summer 1998 season. Brasserie Lef bvre produces 16,000 hectolitres of beer annually, and also has the capacity to double this output. 60% of its products are exported.
