Article Abstract:
A 5.5 million pounds sterling restoration and extension programme has been completed at a college art building at the University of Central England, Birmingham, UK. Architectural firm Associated Architects was given the commission to restore the Victorian art school and extend accommodation facilities. English Heritage was involved in the restoration work as the red-brick college was a listed building. Brickwork specialists were required to undertake cleaning work which involved using chemical stripping.

Article Abstract:
The construction of a wave-shaped wall was an inspirational choice in a playground setting, according to judges of the paving and hard-landscaped brick awards in 1999. The judges chose the Paddington Green School wall as the best example of fun yet innovative and practical landscape design. The wall had to withstand abuse and knocks from children while providing an protective barrier between a nature area and children's playground.
