Environmental opposites
Article Abstract:
Bryon Sher, a liberal senator from Palo Alto, CA, and a law professor, believed that there is a great need to preserve the environment. He wrote and passed several bills among which is the 'Sierra Accord' which tackles issues such as restrictions on clearcutting, protection of ancient forests and imposition of some timber industry requirements. Contrary to what Assemblyman Keith Olberg says concerning the negative effects of these environmental laws on business, Sher believed that states with the strongest environmental laws tend to have the strongest economy.
