Looking after number one
Article Abstract:
Companies are increasingly beginning to offer health care benefits to their employees. There are 400 private medical insurance (PMI) products currently available on offer from 27 insurers, and the cover varies depending on the cost. BUPA is the market leader, with a 45% share, however, other companies are eroding their lead, and PPP now has around 27% market share. Permanent health insurance (PHI) is the next most popular benefit, with 19 insurers offering products. Critical illness cover is also available but is not taken up in the way that PMI and PHI are.
