Planning cybercities? Integrating telecommunications into urban planning
Article Abstract:
Information technology and telecommunications networks are becoming a integral part of the structure of modern society. This trend has significant implications for urban planning. Urban strategies must now change in order to find ways of determining how built spaces and electronically-mediated interactions operate in parallel. Latest planning initiatives are seeking to actively mould the articulations between the development and use of new information technology and telecommunications networks and urban spaces.

Towards a new logic of transport planning?
Article Abstract:
The emergence of a network management logic based on Demand-Side Management (DSM) within the UK's energy and water sectors is being accompanied by a similar shift in the transport sector. This strategy is based on the management of demand through greater attention to efficiency and end-user consumption. New evidence is presented which indicates a new way of managing transport problems. Comments on whether this alternative conceptual base exists are also presented.
