Mexico: the good, the bad, and the ugly
Article Abstract:
Mexico's weak domestic banking industry has hampered its economic development despite the nation's adequate access to international markets. Despite the strengthening value of the Mexican peso, escalating interest rates and prices are making consumers less able and willing to buy goods, and causing production costs of manufacturers to increase. Thus, the increasing value of the peso without an accompanying control of inflation suggests that Mexico's economic situation is far from healthy.
