Article Abstract:
The British government in November 2004 issued the first of a number of consultation papers on changes foreshadowed in the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act. Another paper was issued in March 2005, the revised guidelines for which were due for release within a few months after the consultation period closed in June of that year.

Article Abstract:
Some of the key issues addressed in UK planning reports at the end of 2003 are examined. Increase in the number of use classes, the publication of a new ACA (Association of Consultant Architects) certificate and a fresh, analytical look at the housebuilding industry and on planning are discussed.

Article Abstract:
The need for simplification of the planning system is highlighted. Reduction of duplication involved in making applications for planning permission, conservation area consent and listed building consent in one form would be a successful outcome of the two-year study by Halcrow.
