Polish hotel group Orbis is seeking foreign partner, plans expansion

Orbis SA, a hotel group in Poland, is seeking an international partner to help in refreshing and expanding its hotel chain. According to Orbis president Maciej Grelowski, Orbis could have a new partner by 1999 working to enhance Orbis' franchise and form a combined management firm. Orbis intends to join the turnpike-construction program of Poland and construct a string of highway motels, which Grelowski hopes will strengthen shareholder value and raise profits. Grelowski added that the company plans to franchise Orbis to domestic hotel operators.

Polifarb is in a game of nerves with unwanted suitor Kalon

Polifarb Cieszyn-Wroclaw's vice-president Wojciech Solarski said that the company is seeking strategic partnerships with other paint manufacturers instead of forming an alliance with just one investor. Mr. Solarski made his comments following Kalon PLC's announcement that it wanted to acquire a controlling share of Polifarb. Mr. Solarski stated that the company does not want an alliance with a partner who has controlling interest in the firm. However, Kalon is not seeking a strategic alliance with Polifarb.

Polish Telecommunications monopoly seeks partner to help in expansion

Telekomunikacja Polska SA (TPSA) is seeking a partner that would enable it to increase its access to markets internationally. The company is also seeking a partner in order to finance development projects. Pawel Rzepka, TPSA's president, said that the partner has to be a large strategic one. The partner must also be able to guarantee that TPSA will be able to expand and compete internationally.
