Windows 98 launch a low key affair
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Corp. of Redmond, WA, introduced its Windows 98 operating system to Canadian markets via different satellite launches. Microsoft Canada Co. Windows 98 product manager Neil Froggatt noted that the software developer invested only 1/6 of the marketing funds it used to launch Windows 95. Froggatt stressed that this strategy resulted from consumer awareness of the product. Microsoft Canada is based in Mississauga, Ontario. University of Western Ontario associate marketing professor Mark Van den Bosch for the Ivey Business School indicated that Windows 95 was marketed more aggressively. Den Bosch emphasized that this resulted in the low-profile introduction of Windows 98 which is just an operating system upgrade.
