Prescott's problems
Article Abstract:
There have been differences of opinion between the British prime minister, Tony Blair, and the deputy prime minister, John Prescott, on the role of the public sector and on transportation policy. Differences could also arise on the issue of regional aid. There has been a reduction in the area covered by aid in line with a European Commision ruling. Prescott favors greater regional autonomy, while Blair is less enthusiastic. Demand for more autonomy has come from some regions, such as the north west of England.
