Pressing ahead with structural reforms
Article Abstract:
Foreign investors are likely to become more involved in the planned privatisation of telecommunications companies in Central and Eastern Europe. Estonia Telecom is expected to raise around $200 million-$270 million whilst Polish Telecom is forecasted to be valued a $10 billion. Some analysts suggest European and UK investors will be happier to invest once the Central and Eastern European markets have more depth. The Russian government intends to privatise 70 companies during 1998. Many of the Central and Eastern European countries are planning the direct sales of companies.
