Thomas Fischer has been hired to help turn around German bank WestLB AG. The bank is one of Germany's twelve regional state banks and had a net loss of 2.3 billion Euros in 2003. Fischer, who comes to WestLB from Deutsche Bank AG, hopes to raise 1.5 billion in Euros from Sparkassen municipal savings and loan banks.

German regulator receives audit of WestLB AG
Article Abstract:
WestLB AG has submitted its audit of losses to the BaFin German financial regulator on June 18, 2003. The regulator will make a report of recommendations to the bank?s management once it has studied the audit.
