Article Abstract:
There are three major US investment banks, and they face competition from other banks, including Warburg Dillon Read, the only serious competitor from Europe. J.P. Morgan, another competitor, has a strong brand name and culture, and has sought to develop fee business such as mergers and acquisitions. CSFB can be called a US company, though Credit Suisse from Switzerland owns CSFB,which is seeking to develop its equity business. The goal of CSFB's staff is to make money, though the bank could have a potential image problem.

Desperately seeking Enrico: Mediobanca
Article Abstract:
Investment banking firm Mediobanca SpA is remaining profitable while other Italian investment banking firms suffer because it is making a effort to help the struggling companies whose stock it represents. By helping failing companies, Mediobanca improves the share prices from which it profits.
