Privatization efforts in Sweden hit snags
Article Abstract:
A $31 bil privatization initiative launched by Sweden in 2006 has encountered some difficulties, including a ruling by the nation's Financial Supervisory Authority requiring board and executive resignations and the payment of a fine by investment bank D. Carnegie and Co. The bank was slated to advise the Swedish government in the privatization process; the resignations and fine stemmed from Carnegie's overstatement of earnings since 2005.
