Product review: Membrane roofing
Article Abstract:
The roofing market in the UK has been in decline during recent years, although there may be signs of improvement. Membrane roofing has often been specified over the years as it offers design versatility, but has received some unfair criticisms. The membrane roof on the Millennium Dome in Greenwich is one of the largest under construction. Membrane roofing represents almost one in four of all roofing projects in the UK and there are wide range of flexible materials that are used to form a membrane waterproofing, including bituminous roofing sheets, mastic asphalt, liquid-applied membranes and synthetic single-ply sheets.

Article Abstract:
The UK roofing slate and tile industry experienced growth in 1998. Total area laid during the year increased by 2% on the previous year's figures to 39.5 million square meters. The industry has also experienced consolidation, including the acquisition of Marley Building Products by Etex Group of Belgium. Manufacturers have continued to extend their product ranges, and the debate continues concerning the most effective method of providing ventilation. The internet has become increasingly important as a means of marketing in the industry.
