Pros with long memories may avoid Kerry offering
Article Abstract:
Kerry Properties will issue 150 million new shares in Aug. 1996 that are expected to raise between $374.7 million and $413.5 million. The company, part of the huge business empire of Malaysian tycoon Robert Kuok, is being promoted as Hong-Kong and China real-estate play. Kerry's property portfolio is reported to be of a fairly high quality, but some potential investors are uncertain whether or not they should participate in the deal. They are worried that Kerry Properties will prove to be as disappointing as Kuok's other quoted vehicles.

Sino Land pays premium for aggressive bidding tactics
Article Abstract:
High debt-to-equity ratio has hindered Sino Land Co from taking advantage of vast investment opportunities in the market. As one of Hong Kong's debt-stricken real estate developers, Sino Land's growth has been hindered by its susceptibility to market pressures and investor panic. The company reported a 45% decline in share prices during early 1997, and posted debt-to-equity ratio below the 25% level. Conditions are further aggravated by recent reports which allege that Sino Land failed to issue loan payments to a particular bank.
