Providing a sharper focus
Article Abstract:
It is widely accepted that strategy consultants have played a key role in encouraging UK businesses to focus on core activities. When involved in a merger or acquisition deal, a strategy consultant will advise on issues including target assessment, corporate strategy and performance improvement. A consultant may also deal with issues which are apparently not related to strategy work, such as regulatory conditions. Most companies are now very focused, and it is unlikely that true conglomerates will ever emerge again. Companies will expand from their core strengths, but only in a controlled way.
