Public lives, private morals
Article Abstract:
The resignation of the Welsh Secretary, Ron Davies, would be unfortunate if it occurred simply because he was homosexual as well as being married. The United Kingdom Labor government has tended not to tell people how to manage their lives, and appears to have an adult attitude to sex. The private lives of politicians do not appear to concern the public. The reasons for Davies' resignation are unclear, but it appears that the cabinet had shed a member due to his private behavior, though such behavior does not affect his public life and tasks.

Hazardous morals: the Mexican affair has left the IMF with some hard thinking to do
Article Abstract:
The IMF's role as the lender-of-last-resort should be reevaluated in light of the recent crisis in Mexico. Although most economists agree that it was necessary to bail out Mexico with a $17 billion loan, the IMF should not extend this credit to every developing nation that mismanages its economy.
