Putting a price on the Holocaust
Article Abstract:
A legal battle has developed over compensation for former slave laborers in Germany during the Nazi era. Many claims have gone through US courts relating to the theft of assets during this period, with European companies as common targets. These companies are keen to settle so that they can operate in the US. There is an element of moral reparation in some of these claims, but the focus has tended to be on money. The claims have led to a re-examination of history, which has been beneficial, though many aspects of the Holocaust cannot be measured in monetary terms alone.

Putting economics behind the wheel
Article Abstract:
Because cars are unlikely to be replaced by more environmentally sound means of transportation until at least 1020, policy makers must rely on making cars expensive to use, rather than own, to encourage less driving and the development of cleaner cars and better public transportation.
