RELIANCE SUBMITS PLAN TO BUILD 3,000-KM PIPELINE NETWORK

Reliance Petroleum Limited (RPL) has submitted a plan to lay 3,000 km of pipeline to carry petrol, diesel, kerosene, naphtha and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). The pipeline will carry petroleum products from its refinery at Jamnagar in Gujarat to Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. The 3,000 km pipeline will pass through five states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh and will be laid in two phases. RPL has prepared the basic engineering plan. The Phase I of the project will be laying of 550 km pipeline from Jamnagar to Indore via Ahmedabad. It is likely to be completed in 36 months at a cost of Rs1,294 crore, which will come from internal accruals. The phase II will be 933 km pipeline extension from Indore to Bhopal, Nagpur and Hyderabad, a 1,530 km branch pipeline from Ahmedabad to Patna through Udaipur, Kota, Gwalior, Kanpur and Allahabad and a 230 km branch pipeline from Ahmedabad to Hazira, the site of the petrochemical complex. RIL PUTS OPTICAL FIBRE NETWORK IN PIPELINE

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) plans to lay high capacity optic fibre cable network along with its proposed 3,000 km petroleum pipeline project. The petroleum pipeline runs through 7 States of India. The pipeline proposal is pending with the Government of India for approval. RIL plans to offer optic fibre network for domestic long distance service operators once the Government opens the telecom sector for private participation. It will be able to quote competitive prices for domestic long distance services. RIL will bear one-time capital cost of laying optic fibre cable along the 3,000 km pipeline. (rk)

HI-TECH TELCO NETWORK TO OPEN IN BANGALORE

Concorde Motors Ltd, a joint venture between the Tata group and Jardine International Motor Group of Hong Kong, will soon start operations in Bangalore. It will set up a retail network for sales and service of Telco's commercial vehicles. The company will initially set up a showroom on Cunningham Road and later shift to a showroom cum workshop on Hosur Road.
