CAR WAR BREAKS OUT ON INDIAN ROADS
Article Abstract:
Maruti Udyog Ltd has slashed the price of its 800 and Zen car models by Rs39,000 per unit just as Telco was unveiling its Indica car. Maruti is also thinking of launching stripped-down versions to fill the gap between existing versions. The standard petrol version of the Indica will cost Rs259,000 in Delhi while the diesel version will cost Rs285,000 and the Indica Diesel Deluxe version will cost Rs390,000. The Maruti-800 will cost Rs184,995, the M-800-DX Rs235,058, the Zen-LX Rs295,020, the Zen- VX Rs346,193 and the ZEN-D Rs426,052. (khr)

TELCO SEEKS TO DIESELISE CONTOURS OF CAR MARKET

Tata Engineering Locomotive Company (Telco) is aiming to corner larger share of the diesel car market. Telco has introduced diesel engine in its recently launched car Indica. Indica comes in four models, three in diesel version and one petrol version. The diesel cars are priced in the range of Rs2.8 lakh to 3.9 lakh. (gs)
