Rain fails to dampen Vitasoy net profit
Article Abstract:
Beverage and food manufacturer and distributor Vitasoy International Holdings posted a net profit of HK$121.2 mn for the year ended 31 March, up 6.4% from the previous year. Meanwhile, its operating profit increased by 25% to HK$149 mn. During the period, the sales in Hong Kong and North America increased by 9% and 13% respectively. The sales in Hong Kong and North America accounted for 69% and 20% of the company's total sales, respectively. In China, its sales increased 80% In order to further expand its distribution network, Vitasoy plans to develop new markets in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui. *

Bad debt drags down Yip's Hang Cheung net

Solvents & industrial chemicals firm Yip's Hang Cheung Holdings posted a net profit of HK$17.08 mn for the year ended 31 March 1998, down 68% from last year. Turnover fell 16% to HK$1.1 bn. The company blamed the decrease in net profit on a HK$20 mn bad debt from a single customer in the first half of the year and the spillover effect of Asian financial turmoil during the second half. *
