Article Abstract:
UK companies invested 2.2 billion pounds sterling in domestic merger and acquisition deals in the second quarter of 1995, down from 11.4 billion pounds sterling in the first quarter of the year. There were 107 deals, with the largest being the purchase by Unilever of Colman Products and the purchase of West Midlands Travel by National Express Group. Expenditure by overseas companies in the period was 1.7 billion pounds sterling.

Euro IT deals soar in First Half 1995

European information technology (IT) M&A deals have increased by 237% in value in the first half of 1995, according to a report by Broadview. US companies have been buying in Europe because European companies are leading in the technology stakes. Many companies such as EDS, CSC and AT&T continue to expand in European, and even smaller companies are purchasing European firms.
