Reliant Energy to buy Dutch firm UNA

Reliant Energy Inc. has reached an agreement to acquire NV Energieproduktiebedrijf UNA over a seven-year period. Reliant will spend up to $2.4 billion over that period to takeover one of the largest power firms in the Netherlands. The move signals Reliant's entry into the electricity markets in Europe. The first stage of the deal will involve Reliant's purchase of 40% of UNA for $900 million.
