Remote management tools from Brazil
Article Abstract:
Atech, a Brazilian company, has introduced three new products for air traffic management, namely the p-ASD, FPA and MapBack. P-ASD, which stands for, portable Air Situation Display, is a stand-alone tool that interfaces with air traffic control systems to provide management information to local and remote locations. FPA is a Flight Plan Assistance tool for aircraft/airline and air traffic control operators, which is designe to improve the quality and speed with which flight plan operators can create flight plan routes. Meanwhile, MapBack provides satellite and aerial images over the Internet.

New developments in training; a new case holds all the answers
Article Abstract:
The Swedish Air Traffic Services Academy has turned to a controlled airspace synthetic environment (CASE) simulator from Marconi Electronic Systems to reduce the cost of training controllers. The system consists of high specification PC/Unix platforms featuring a fully distributed and extendable architecture that can support all kinds of controller training. The simulator can be linked to as many 50 workstations, each providing training from basic radar to full area control functionality.
