Remy Cointreau reports loss for year
Article Abstract:
Remy Cointreau SA of Paris, France, posted a net loss of $103.6 million during the fiscal year that ended March 31, 1998. Remy Cointreau's net loss of 621 million French francs was a substantial decline from a 36-million franc profit posted in the previous fiscal year. The loss was blamed on foreign-exchange fluctuations and a decline in cognac sales. The company also posted a 4% decline in operating income to 534 million francs from 558 million francs. The loss came despite a 4% rise in revenue from 7.2 billion francs to 7.5 billion francs.
