Rum coves
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom Conservative party has lost a member of parliament with the death of Alan Clark, and this leaves open a safe seat that represents a challenge to a Conservative politician without a seat, Michael Portillo. Portillo has ambitions to lead the party, and has revealed that he has had homosexual relationships when he was younger. He lost his seat in 1997 to a Labor party politician, Stephen Twigg, who had not disguised being gay. Portillo may have preferred to wait prior to joining parliament since he may not wish to be associated with the Conservative leader, William Hague, who could lose the next election.
