Russia to get dividend in Sakhalin-2 deal
Article Abstract:
Royal Dutch-Shell PLC has agreed to sell a majority stake in its Sakhalin-2 project to Russia's state gas firm OAO Gazprom, and will also pay a significant yearly dividend to the Russian government, beginning in 2010, to preserve the $20 bil venture. This will avoid a formal restructuring of the contract for Sakhalin-2, a natural gas and oil project in eastern Russia.

Article Abstract:
OAO Gazprom said the Russian government, as well as itself, have acquired majority control of the company. This will pave the way for Gazprom's reforming of its stock structure. It could also mean the end of a system that has prevented foreign investors in the past.
