Deutsche Bank seeks to defend global strategy
Article Abstract:
Deutsche Bank AG tried to counter criticisms hurled at the performance of its investment banking unit and global strategy, calling itself the leader in such areas as underwriting and trading. The bank has been conducting some damage control brought about by the departure of key investment bankers recruited to transfer the company into a top Wall Street player. But Deutsche Chairman Rolf Breuer's defence of his company accomplishing little in calming investors, who criticized the bank's disappointing 1.3% drop in net income for the first half of 1998.
