Russia's Gazprom warns Belarus it will cut gas supply due to debt

Russia's OAO Gazprom announced to Belarus that it will reduce gas supplies to that country due to Belarus's increasing shipment debts. Last year, Belarus had agreed to purchase gas from Gazprom at $100 per thousand cubic meters, well below the European average of approximately $260. Gazprom had been allowing Belarus to pay just $50 for the first half of 2007; however the nation's debt has now reached $456 mil.

Exxon, China reach tentative deal on Russian gas
Article Abstract:
Although Exxon Mobil Corp. has reached an agreement to sell natural gas from Sakhalin Island to China, the company still needs to negotiate an agreement with Russian monopoly OAO Gaz prom in order to get the gas to market. Gazprom officials believe that any exports from Sakhalin should go through the monopoly , even though Sakhalin-1 is allowed to export on its own.
