Russia's self-isolation
Article Abstract:
Russia is a large country with serious proems, and it cannot be ignored. There has been resentment among Russians of the increased international role of the US. Other European countries have made progress in terms of integration, and some Eastern European countries look set to join the European Union (EU). Ruyssia has isolated itself, in contrast to many neighboring countries. There is a need to point out deficiencies in Russia in terms of democracy, while keeping open the possibility of closer ties with Russia.
