SAIL, TATA STEEL TO HIKE PRICES
Article Abstract:
The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and Tata Steel (TS) have planned an average 5 percent price increase for some grades of their steel. The price increase will mainly be for high-value cold-rolled (CR) and hot-rolled (HR) products. Minor adjustment of the price of a few long products may be done. The reduction of customs duty to 30 percent on CR coils along with the additional countervailing duty of 8 percent will lead to an additional tariff of 7.4 percent while it will be 2 percent for HR products. Domestic price of CR products will get an additional cushion of Rs1,000-1,200 per tonne while HR items will get a cushion of about Rs300 per tonne. (khr)
