Article Abstract:
Seshasayee Paper and Boards Ltd (SPBL), a paper producer proposes to consolidate the environmental compatibility of its production facility as a part of its expansion cum modernisation programme. It proposes to invest Rs12 crore on a comprehensive secondary effluent treatment system, Rs2.50 crore on the installation of electrostatic precipitators and Rs50 lakh on raising the capacity of its secondary aerated lagoon. SPBL has hired Tamil Nadu Agricultural University for taking up a detailed study on the long term effect of its plant on ground water in the region. It proposes to raise its paper production capacity to 115,000 tonnes from 60,000 tonnes at a cost of Rs222 crore. (ag)
