SESHASAYEE PAPER HALVES DIVIDEND TO 10%

Seshasayee Paper & Boards Ltd has reduced its dividend to 10 percent on a paid-up capital of Rs11.25 crore for 1997-98 from 20 percent in 1996-97. Its net profit has decreased to Rs1.13 crore from Rs9.18 crore. Its net sales has decreased to Rs129.39 crore from Rs138.79 crore. Its cash profit decreased to Rs13.05 crore from Rs20.79 crore. Its interest and finance charges was Rs6.28 crore in 1997-98 against Rs5.84 crore in 1996-97. The company's tax provision was Rs1.55 crore (Rs4.50 crore) while depreciation was Rs11.91 crore (Rs11.61 crore). It has planned a Rs222 crore expansion cum modernisation programme to increase its paper production capacity to 1.15 lakh tonnes from 66,000 tonnes at present. (khr)

DHANUKA PESTICIDES DECLARES 20% DIVIDEND

Dhanuka Pesticides Ltd has declared a dividend of 20 percent for its shareholders on an equity share capital of Rs1.98 crore for 1997-98. Its net profit has increased by 110 percent to Rs2.05 crore in 1997-98. The company attributes its success to the introduction of new products - Caldan 4G, 50 SP and Nukil-10 percent EC, through its tie-ups with Takeda Chemical Industries and Mitsui Chemicals Inc of Japan. It will also launch a potent fungicide called Kasugamycin through a tie-up with Hokko Chemical Industry of Japan. (khr)
