TELECRUZ PLANS SET-TOP BOXES FOR Rs 5,000
Article Abstract:
TeleCruz Technology Inc (TTI) plans to produce set-top boxes for less than Rs5,000 with the latest technology. It feels that the price of the set-top box could be reduced further if a chip is installed in television sets. TTI has designed such a chip which enables multiple applications like electronic programming, e- commerce and telephone access. TTI has already launched a set-top box priced at $40 in the US. The success of the set-top box in India would depend on advertising as a large number of households may not be ready to buy personal computers. They would prefer to buy the set-top box and surf the Net through their existing television sets. (ag)(vr)
