Software Solutions Integrated Limited proposes to issue bonus shares in the ratio 1:1 in 1998-99. It is engaged in software training and education. It specialises in client server computing. It has 42 facilities of its own and 50 franchises in India. It plans to open training centres overseas. It made a turnover of Rs42.39 crore in the year ended June 1998. It made an operating profit of Rs19.69 crore and a net profit of Rs10.08 crore in the same period. It recorded sales of Rs17.05 crore in the 3 months ended September 1998. It made a net profit of Rs3.92 crore. It plans to issue 7.5 lakh preference shares. Consequently, its equity is likely to increase from Rs5.93 crore to Rs11.87 crore. As the fastest growing sector in the Indian economy, Information Technology (IT) has a vast potential for generating employment and to boost export earnings. The Indian government aims to make the country a global power in this field within 10 years time. A National Information Technology Task Force has been established. Software companies need attractive incentives to retain their skilled professionals. They have approached the government for offering stock option schemes to their Indian employees linked to ADR/GDR issues abroad. The government has decided to formulate a special scheme to permit such options for the software sector. (uh)

CHENNAI, HYDERABAD FAVOURED IT DESTINATIONS

A survey undertaken by the National Association of Software & Service Companies (Nasscom) shows that Chennai and Hyderabad as the cities most favoured by information technology companies. When the companies were asked to rate the cities on the basis of manpower, educational facilities and cost of living among others, Chennai got a rating of 3.20 on a scale of one to four. Chennai scored over all other cities on cost of setting up software development units. (khr)
