LOW DEMAND FORCES MUL TO CUT PRODUCTION BY 25%
Article Abstract:
Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) has cut its production of cars by almost 25 percent to keep inventories low in view of the falling sales. The average monthly production of cars was 29,224 during April- October 1998 (29,528 in April-October 1997). Sales of the Omni, Esteem and Zen model cars have also fallen due to the economic crisis, which has hit the salaried class, as also the rumours of price cuts in certain segments. (nr)
