STMicro reports 51 percent rise in net, but outlook dims

STMicroelectronics N.V. of Switzerland posted a 51 percent increase in net profit for the fourth quarter to $276 million up from $183 million last year. Revenue is up 3.9 percent to $2.48 billion from $2.39 billion last year. The semiconductor company is searching for new partners and projects slower sales for the first half of 2007.

Petroplus climbs 11 percent in debut

Petroplus Holdings AG of Switzerland has raised 2.52 billion Swiss Francs ($2.08 billion) on an initial public offering on the Zurich exchange. The petroleum industrial sold 40 million shares at 63 Francs ($52.07) per share to close at 69.95 Francs. Petroplus Holdings AG is planning to finance growth through acquisitions.
